Margit Jäschke

ava

German-born Margit Jäschke is a visual artist who specializes in collage. She also makes compelling jewelry that displays the same aesthetic integrity as her larger works. Using materials as disparate as metal, corrugated cardboard, epoxy, and semi-precious stones, she creates brooches and necklaces, which are unlike any other. Jäschke, an inspiring teacher in her own right, received a diploma from Burg Giebechenstein Hochschule für Kunst und Design, Halle, Germany, where she studied in the Sculpture Department’s renowned jewelry program with masters Renate Heintze and Dorothea Prühl. Jäschke has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions, internationally, among them Something Old Something New, 8th Cheongju International Craft Biennale, Cheongju, Korea (2013); Schmuck, Munich, Germany (2011, 2013); and Schmuck für Halle – Halle für Schmuck, Kunstverein “Talstrasse,” Halle, Germany (2013). Her work is represented in many museum collections including The Newark Museum, Newark, New Jersey; Grassi Museum für Angewandte Kunst, Leipzig; and Stiftung-Moritzburg Kunstmuseum des Landes Sachsen-Anhalt, Halle.
