Zachery Lechtenberg | Fuller Craft Museum Acquisition

Fuller Craft Museum recently acquired a brooch by Zachery Lechtenberg from The Enamel Arts Foundation.

Untitled Badge, 2016, Copper, steel, silver, enamel, 2 3/4 x 2 1/2 x 1/2 in.

Lechtenberg frequently depicts skulls in his work. Ever since he was a child, he has been fascinated with the subject. He feels that drawing – and, in particular wearing – this symbol of mortality, helps him and others deal with its inevitability.  At times his skulls are playful and innocent and at times dark and spooky. The official appearance of Untitled Badge, with a bone suspended beneath the enamel disc like a military badge, lends an element of great seriousness to this composition. -The Enamel Arts Foundation
