This series considers the dog as psychopomp, a guide threading us between the opposites of internal darkness and light, life and death. The dog guards, guides and heals. It is a reciprocal relationship where we must in return, protect and guide them.
These pieces made of volcanic glass act as protective devices both for the animal and for the wearer, tethered together. The work also reflects the oxymoron that is the puppy-one who destroys, who will bite your hand and put their snout in it and gaze with loving eyes within the turn of a second.
