My work explores the intersection of geometric precision, cultural ritual, and emotional resilience. What began as a technical pursuit during my graduate studies at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) has evolved into a deeply personal design language centered entirely around a single form: the circle. It serves as the foundational architecture of my jewelry, allowing me to manipulate line, space, and layered dimensions.

The conceptual heart of my current collection, "Wishes," emerged from a period of profound global and personal paralysis in the winter of 2024. Amidst devastating local and international turmoil—the sudden proclamation of martial law in South Korea, a tragic domestic airplane crash, and escalating conflicts abroad—the world felt entirely fractured. Frozen in my studio and unable to create for an upcoming solo exhibition in Seoul, I found myself sitting at my bench, staring at circles originally intended for other designs.

Seeking grounding, I began stacking them—one atop another. This repetitive act transformed into a quiet, meditative ritual rooted in my Korean heritage, where stones are traditionally stacked for luck, remembrance, and strength. Stacking metal circles became a physical prayer, mirroring the fragile yet powerful balance of being human during turbulent times.

To me, the circle remains a universal symbol of unity, infinity, and that which has no beginning and no end. Through the pieces in the "Wishes" collection, I seek to shape stillness, carve out peace, and offer a sense of wholeness to the wearer when the world feels broken.
