Join jewelry historian Toni Greenbaum on September 23, 2020 at 6 pm for a trip back in time – to the Greenwich Village of the 1930s to 1970s, when The Village was the mecca for studios and shops specializing in handmade jewelry – now termed modernist jewelry. Toni will conduct a virtual walking tour of the former establishments of several iconic Greenwich Village jewelers, including Sam Kramer, Art Smith, Francisco Rebajes, Winifred Mason, Paul Lobel, Bill Tendler and Ed Wiener, through archival photos of The Village along with images of the makers, their works and current photos of the store locations. The tour, sponsored by The Jewelry Library, is being held in conjunction with the publication of Toni’s new book, Sam Kramer: Jeweler on the Edge. This program is also the first in The Library’s new series Jewelry Geography. Go to: https://arnoldsche.com/us/product/sam-kramer/ to purchase the book.
