“In Light Of…” highlights Joan Parcher’s most recent “Phosphene” series – a group with  which she pushes the limits of her enameling  technique with glass beads and copper form. Referring to the term for the sparkles of light that are produced by rubbing one’s closed eyes, Joan Parcher’s “Phosphene” series has its genesis in her long time fascination with sparkle and shine and its connection to industrial detritus.

” “My grandparents worked in a glass factory near Pittsburgh,” she recalls. “There was a huge area where they threw all the glass.  The ground just glittered.”
