“Endless Conundrum,” a  monograph featuring  the drawings, sculpture, and jewelry of Klaus Bürgel, best describes this multidisciplinary artist’s current series. Based upon a meandering line, these sterling silver brooches undulate rhythmically, gracefully dense, without beginning or end, iterations of the infinite. A consummate goldsmith, Bürgel is one of the most technically proficient and graphically compelling artist jewelers working today. He studied goldsmithing at Goldschmiedeschule and holds a BFA from Handwerkskammer, both in Pforzheim, along with undergraduate work and a MFA from Akademie der Bildenden Künste, Munich. He is a superb instructor in his own right, having taught at Maine College of Art, Portland; University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth; California College of Arts and Crafts, Oakland; School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; Rhode Island School of Design, Providence; and Parsons School of Design, New York. Bürgel is currently on the faculty of the 92ND Street Y in New York.
