Pat Flynn

Pat Flynn was raised in Pennsylvania and began fabricating jewelry while still in High School. He earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in gold/silversmithing from the State University of New York, New Paltz. Flynn's work has been widely exhibited throughout the U.S. and can be seen in the permanent collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, NYC; Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, MA; Art Institute of Chicago, Illinois; Renwick Gallery of the Smithsonian, Washington, D.C. He lives and works in High Falls, New York.

What attracts me to my work is the dichotomy that exists between materials and processes.  The Wildness of forging juxtaposed with elegant goldsmithing techniques.  I am interested in the underlying tension that results from combining disparate materials such as steel and diamonds or gold and steel, in organic forms. My hope is that my work will go out into the world and communicate for me.
